Job Description

This position will consist of 10-hr shifts; those shifts will primarily be in the ED.

The schedule is:      Week 1:                                              Week 2:
                             Tuesday 6am-4:30pm                          Sunday 7am-5:30pm
                             Wednesday 5:30am-4pm                     Wednesday 5:30am-4pm
                             Friday 6am-4:30pm                             Thursday 6am-4:30pm
                             Saturday 6am-4:30pm                         Friday 6am-4:30pm

General Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the Patient Access Manager, the patient registration representative is responsible to obtain demographic, financial, and insurance information from patients and/or their representatives to ensure prompt insurance reimbursement.

Requirements:

1. High School diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
2. College Education: 1-2 years preferred.
3. Certified Healthcare Associate Certification (CHAA) preferred.
4. 2-3 years prior experience in Hospital, Medical Registration/Billing experience required or equivalent medical schooling.
5. Medical Terminology preferred.
6. Knowledge of CPT-4 and ICD-9/10 recommended.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

1. Obtain demographic, financial, and insurance information from patients and/or their representatives to ensure prompt insurance reimbursement.
2. Verify insurance for patients through Real Time Eligibility.
3. Collect patient co-pays, deductibles, and any outstanding balance accounts.
4. Completes Epic work queues daily.
5. Completes accounts in AHIQA daily.
6. Responsible for daily cash reconciliation.
7. Required to work on-call and holiday schedules.
8. Ability to utilize a workstation on wheels (WOW) when completing bedside registrations.
9. Ability to maintain confidentiality in all situations.
10. Maintain excellent oral and written communication skills.
11. Other duties as assigned.
