General Summary:

Metro Health University of Michigan Health is seeking a fellowship trained (BC/BE) vascular neurologist to join its expanding stroke program. The stroke system serves the second largest metropolitan area in Michigan. The health system has a strong commitment to rapidly progress from a primary to a comprehensive stroke center. Our specialized team includes fellowship trained vascular neurosurgeons, neurointerventional radiologists, vascular neurologists and neurointensivists who are both onsite and supported by Michigan Medicine telemedicine.
We are seeking a collaborative physician to join efforts in establishing a comprehensive stroke center and regional stroke system of care. Responsibilities include clinical care, outreach, administrative duties and opportunities to participate in clinical research and resident and fellow education. This is a clinical position with extremely competitive compensation and benefits package.  An academic affiliation with the University of Michigan is available for interested candidates.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  1. Provides and manages direct patient care, including physical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses and treatment for a specified patient population.
  2. Prescribes pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed medical conditions.
  3. Refers patients to specialists and to relevant patient care components as appropriate.
  4. Trains and supervises medical students and residents engaged in specialty activities and procedures, as appropriate.
  5. May manage the daily operations of a specific medical program, patient care unit, or research function.
  6. Directs and coordinates the patient care activities of nursing and support staff as required.
  7. Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards.
  8. As appropriate to the position, participates in specified health promotion, education and/or prevention programs.
  9. Recognizes and reports problems, errors, and discrepancies to the Site Medical Director and VP/COO of Metro Enterprises.
  10. Reports to work on time, as scheduled, and is dependable and cooperative.
  11. Organizes and prioritize assigned work, and schedules time to accommodate work demands, turnaround-time requirements, and commitments.
  12. Contributes to team efforts.
  13. Conducts themselves in a positive and cooperative manner.
  14. Handles difficult and sensitive situations tactfully.
  15. Adhere to the Hospital's corporate compliance standards regarding proper documentation for billing and reimbursement purposes and also relative to the teaching physician supervision of interns and residents.
  16. Perform all other related duties as necessary.
